Poomsae are patterns of Basic Movements that students are expected to memorize and practice on their own time outside of the dojang. Poomsae are the traditional aspect of martial art training handed down from one instructor to the next. do not require a partner and are low impact.
The purpose of Poomsae is to provide an individual student with a formal method of practicing the fundamental techniques of Taekwondo outside of the classroom. Poomsae also teaches balance, power, rythym, mental focus, breath control, and proper technique.

Our Curriculum features the The Pal-Gwe, Taeguek and Yudanja patterns recognized by the Kukkiwon, World Taekwondo Federation and the United States Taekwondo Union. Supplementary patterns are also taught to advanced black belt students.

Free-Sparring

Free-Sparring is what most unitiated spectators refer to as fighting. In fact Sparring is not fighting at all. During class sparring is free form cooperative drill with a partner wearing protective gear. Beginning students are restricted to using a very small subset of attacks, counters and defense. Gradually, as students advance, sparring becomes less and less restrictive until full contact is permitted and no restrictions are put on the technique and target selection. In our program free sparring is not optional. All students must learn to use the techniques they have learned against a live uncooperative opponent.
